"When I was about eleven years old, I remember a specific conversation I had with my father. I sat quiet while he talked about our family's Italian heritage and the origin of our last name, DeLeo. De - Leo: The - Lion. Simple enough, makes sense. What characteristics come to your mind when you think about the embodiment of a lion? I think of wisdom, respect, courage, beauty, strength, unity, and passion. Once I learned of this connection, I took a lot of pride in my last name and the characteristics it symbolized. To this day, I dedicate to live every aspect of my life with the heart of a lion."

My Family

Mother:  Shelley DeLeo

My wonderful mother is the manager at Couture 360 Salon, in Lake Zurich, IL.  Originally from Niles, IL; Shelley was raised by Steve and Ceil Wisniewski.  Shelley's siblings Tim, Debbie, Janet, and Gary constantly devote their time to being loving and supportive family members.  As a single mother of three, Shelley caries a heavy load of responsibility.  We are very thankful for her hard work in supporting her family and the upbringing of her children.

Shelley does not get much free time, but when she does she enjoys spending time with her family.  Wisniewski and DeLeo gatherings are always filled with food, fun, and laughter.  Being the extremely supportive mother that she is, Shelley has spent an enormous amount of time cheering her children on at soccer, baseball, and football games.  She is also an extremely talented quilter, sewer, and interior designer.  It is very common to find Shelley cozied near the fireplace with a magazine during the winter; or stretched out on the deck with a lemonade during the summer.

Father:  Michael DeLeo

1957-2003
No amount of words can describe the true gentleman that Michael was.  Son of Anna and Anthony DeLeo, Mike was the joy of their world.  An extremely proud Italian who had a passion for family, cooking, and fun.   Mike took a lot of pride in his education and dedicated work at Baxter Healthcare. Together with his adored bride Shelley, they raised a beautiful family of five.  It is difficult to explain what Michael DeLeo meant to me, but our family friend, Andy Kaufman, does a great job explaining what Mike meant to everyone.  Click the link below to learn more about Mike's passionate life.

Brother:  Tony DeLeo
My brother Tony is 24 years old and currently working as an accounting manager at Horizon Steel Company.  Tony graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2009 with a degree in Finance.  Recently engaged to his high school sweet-heart, Laura Miller, the two are excited to share their wedding vows in September.  In the spring of 2011, Tony and Laura purchased a home together in Wauconda, IL, where they currently live.

Tony is a fishing enthusiast.  He takes the lead in organizing our yearly fishing trip to Eagle Lake,  Ontario.  We are thankful for the dedicated hospitality Century Lodge has provided for our group the past 7 years. Besides being an outstanding "handy man," Tony is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to cars, trucks, boats, and just about anything else with a motor.  Tony's work ethic and determination is clear to see with his training and competing in two half marathons within the past year.

Sister:  Vanessa DeLeo

My 16 year old sister, Vanessa, is currently a Sophomore at Lake Zurich High School.  Upon her birthday this December she officially received her drivers license-you have been warned.   Besides being an outstanding and cheerful student, Vanessa devotes a lot of time out of the classroom.  I am extremely proud of her contributions as a dedicated football manager for LZHS.  Vanessa is early to every summer and regular season practice to set up equipment, prepare refreshments, and que video cameras.  Players and coaches don't only love her for her positive attitude and passionate support- she also makes 100 cupcakes to hand out after every game.  Once football season is over Vanessa spends a lot of time preparing for the spring soccer season.  Vanessa started playing soccer at a young age and to this day still enjoys the comradery with her teammates and competitive nature of the sport.

Vanessa is also known for her time spent in the kitchen creating delectable sweets.  She receives much of her inspiration from the Food Network and is always anxious to try new recipes.   It is amazing how her creativity has guided her progress as a baker within the past two years.  It is no surprise to find Vanessa singing and dancing while she is in the kitchen.  Being a former member of both Denise Sabala Studio and Trilogy Dance Studio, Vanessa has dance moves that naturally flow through her.
